Michigan

Eddie and his blue blueberry bucket

Yesterday my Dad and I drove the boys to Otsego, on the west side of Michigan, to pick blueberries. We went to the farm where my mother picked blueberries as a girl, for her summer job. She earned the nickname "PPA," which stands for "Pauline Pees A Lot." (She would pretend to have a full bladder in order to take a break.)

My Aunt Diane met us at the farm, and together we picked for an hour. We agreed it was "good picking," as my grandmother used to say, and I loved it so much. Eddie walked down the rows grabbing handful after handful of blueberries and shoving them into this mouth. We stopped only because it started to rain.

We ended up picking 17 pounds of blueberries!! Look out for blue poo!

This is one of the barns at my Aunt Diane's house.
