Cliff Lee

Cliff Lee (b. 1951) is a ceramic artist who works in Stevens, Pennsylvania with his wife Holly—a jeweler. He received his MFA in Ceramics from the James Madison University, but as a young man Lee studied medicine and became a successful neurosurgeon.

His work mimics natural forms, creating imagery of flowers, gourds, leaves, etc., and is influenced by his work as a surgeon which he abandoned for pottery at the age of 27. His work can be found in the collections of the Renwick Gallery, National Museum of American Art, Mint Museum of Craft & Design, and the White House Collection of American Craft, among others.
